Numbers, 4

49. According to the commandment of the LORD they were numbered by the hand of Moses, every one according to his service, and according to his burden: thus were they numbered of him, as the LORD commanded Moses.

Deuteronomy 31:25-26: "That Moses commanded the Levites to transport the ark of the covenant of the Lord, saying, Take this book of the law and put it beside the ark of the covenant of the Lord, your God, that it may be as witness against you.
