1. Yahweh parla à Moïse, en disant: «Commande aux enfants d'Israël et dis-leur:

1. The LORD said to Moses,

2. Quand vous serez entrés dans le pays de Chanaan, voici le pays qui vous tombera en partage: le pays de Chanaan, selon ses limites, savoir:

2. "Give the Israelites this order: When you enter the land of Canaan, this is the territory that shall fall to you as your heritage--the land of Canaan with its boundaries:

3. Le côté du midi sera pour vous le désert de Sin, jusqu'à Edom, et votre frontière méridionale partira de l'extrémité méridionale de la mer Salée, vers l'orient,

3. "Your southern boundary shall be at the desert of Zin along the border of Edom; on the east it shall begin at the end of the Salt Sea,

4. et votre frontière inclinera au sud par la montée d'Akrabbim, passera par Sin, et arrivera jusqu'au midi de Cadès-Barné; elle continuera par Hatsar-Adar et passera vers Asemon;

4. and turning south of the Akrabbim Pass, it shall cross Zin, and extend south of Kadesh-barnea to Hazar-addar; thence it shall cross to Azmon,

5. et depuis Asemon, la frontière arrivera jusqu'au Torrent d'Egypte, pour arriver à la mer.

5. and turning from Azmon to the Wadi of Egypt, shall terminate at the Sea.

6. Quant à la frontière occidentale, vous aurez pour frontière la grande mer: ce sera votre limite à l'occident.

6. "For your western boundary you shall have the Great Sea with its coast; this shall be your western boundary.

7. Voici quelle sera votre frontière septentrionale: à partir de la grande mer,

7. "The following shall be your boundary on the north: from the Great Sea you shall draw a line to Mount Hor,

8. vous la tracerez pour vous par le mont Hor; depuis le mont Hor, vous la tracerez jusqu'à l'entrée de Hamath, et la frontière arrivera à Sedada;

8. and shall continue it from Mount Hor to Labo in the land of Hamath, with the boundary extending through Zedad.

9. et la frontière continuera par Zéphron, pour arriver à Hatsar-Enan: ce sera votre limite au septentrion.

9. Thence the boundary shall reach to Ziphron and terminate at Hazar-enan. This shall be your northern boundary.

10. Vous tracerez votre frontière orientale de Hatsar-Enan à Sépham;

10. "For your eastern boundary you shall draw a line from Hazar-enan to Shepham.

11. et la frontière descendra de Sépham vers Rébla, à l'est d'Aïn; et la frontière descendra et s'étendra le long des collines qui flanquent la mer de Cénéreth à l'orient,

11. From Shepham the boundary shall go down to Ar-Baal, east of Ain, and descending further, shall strike the ridge on the east side of the Sea of Chinnereth;

12. et la frontière descendra le long du Jourdain, pour arriver à la mer Salée. Tel sera votre pays selon les frontières tout autour.»

12. thence the boundary shall continue along the Jordan and terminate with the Salt Sea. "This is the land that shall be yours, with the boundaries that surround it."

13. Moïse donna cet ordre aux enfants d'Israël, en disant: «C'est là le pays que vous partagerez par le sort, et que Yahweh a ordonné de donner aux neuf tribus et à la demi-tribu.

13. Moses also gave this order to the Israelites: "This is the land, to be apportioned among you by lot, which the LORD has commanded to be given to the nine and one half tribes.

14. Car la tribu des fils de Ruben, selon leurs maisons patriarcales, et la tribu des fils de Gad, selon leurs maisons patriarcales, ont reçu leur héritage; la demi-tribu de Manassé a reçu son héritage.

14. For all the ancestral houses of the tribe of Reuben, and the ancestral houses of the tribe of Gad, as well as half of the tribe of Manasseh, have already received their heritage;

15. Les deux tribus et la demi-tribu ont pris leur héritage au delà du Jourdain, vis-à-vis de Jéricho, du côté de l'orient, vers le levant.»

15. these two and one half tribes have received their heritage on the eastern side of the Jericho stretch of the Jordan, toward the sunrise."

16. Yahweh parla à Moïse, en disant:

16. The LORD said to Moses,

17. «Voici les noms des hommes qui partageront le pays entre vous: Eléazar, le prêtre, et Josué, fils de Nun.

17. "These are the names of the men who shall apportion the land among you: Eleazar the priest, and Joshua, son of Nun,

18. Vous prendrez encore un prince de chaque tribu pour vous partager le pays.

18. and one prince from each of the tribes whom you shall designate for this task.

19. Voici les noms de ces hommes: Pour la tribu de Juda, Caleb, fils de Jéphoné;

19. These shall be as follows: from the tribe of Judah: Caleb, son of Jephunneh,

20. pour la tribu des fils de Siméon, Samuel, fils d'Ammiud;

20. from the tribe of Simeon: Samuel, son of Ammihud;

21. pour la tribu de Benjamin, Elidad, fils de Chaselon;

21. from the tribe of Benjamin: Elidad, son of Chislon;

22. pour la tribu des fils de Dan, le prince Bocci, fils de Jogli;

22. from the tribe of Dan: Bukki, son of Jogli;

23. pour les fils de Joseph: pour la tribu des fils de Manassé, le prince Hanniel, fils d'Ephod;

23. from the tribe of Manasseh: Hanniel, son of Ephod; and

24. et pour la tribu des fils d'Ephraïm, le prince Camuel, fils de Sephtan;

24. from the tribe of Ephraim: Kemuel, son of Shiphtan, for the descendants of Joseph;

25. pour la tribu des fils de Zabulon, le prince Elisaphan, fils de Pharnach;

25. from the tribe of Zebulun: Elizaphan, son of Parnach;

26. pour la tribu des fils d'Issachar, le prince Phaltiel, fils d'Ozan;

26. from the tribe of Issachar: Paltiel, son of Azzan;

27. pour la tribu des fils d'Aser, le prince Ahiud, fils de Salomi;

27. from the tribe of Asher: Ahihud, son of Shelomi;

28. pour la tribu des fils de Nephthali, le prince Phedaël, fils d'Ammiud.»

28. from the tribe of Naphtali: Pedahel, son of Ammihud."

29. ? Tels sont ceux à qui Yahweh ordonna de partager le pays de Chanaan entre les enfants d'Israël.

29. These are they whom the LORD commanded to assign the Israelites their heritage in the land of Canaan.
