Judith, 8

16. As for yourselves, do not challenge the designs of the Lord our God, for God cannot give in to threats as a man does, nor can any decision be imposed upon him as it can on the sons of men.

Judite 8 describes how Judith convinced the elders of her city to allow her to leave the city gates to surrender to the Assyrians. She used her wisdom and eloquence to persuade them that this was the only way to save the city. Proverbs 16:32: "Better is the Longanic than the brave, and the one who rules his spirit than what a city takes." This verse emphasizes the importance of self -control, a quality that Judith demonstrated in carefully planning and executing his plan with patience and skill.
