16. Seeing that they had been defeated by Israel, the Aramaeans sent messengers and mobilized the Aramaeans from beyond the river, with Shophach, commander of Hadadezer's army, at their head.

This verse shows that David trusted God and his spiritual weapons to fight the ammonites, not in his own skills or physical strength.
