Jeremiah, 42

4. Then Jeremiah the prophet said unto them, I have heard [you]; behold, I will pray unto the LORD your God according to your words; and it shall come to pass, [that] whatsoever thing the LORD shall answer you, I will declare [it] unto you; I will keep nothing back from you.

In Jeremiah 42, the remnant of Judah, led by Joanan, consults Jeremiah to find out whether or not to go to Egypt in search of security. Jeremiah seeks God's will and responds that if they remain in Judah, they will be blessed, but if they go to Egypt, they will be punished. However, they refuse to listen and decide to go to Egypt. Jeremiah 7:3: "Thus saith the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel: improve their ways and actions, and I will make them dwell in this place." This verse shows God's message to the people of Judah, encouraging them to repent and improve their actions so that they can remain in their land.

Jeremiah 26:13: "Now change their lives and conduct, and obey the voice of the Lord, His God, that He may repent of the evil he has announced against you." This verse shows how Jeremiah urges the people to repent and change their lives to avoid divine punishment.
