24. Then Trypho returned to his own country.
Chapter 13 of 1 Maccabees continues the narrative of the war between Judas Macabeus and the enemies of the people of Israel. In this chapter, Judas leads a battle against the troops of King Antiochus and is successful in defeating them. Following are five verses related to the topics addressed in 1 Maccabees 13:
2 Maccabees 15:22-23: "being all so happy, they spent the night in the countryside. And the next day, near noon, they marched to the fortress." These verses show the joy of the people of Israel after the victory of Judas and the continuation of the battle against the enemy.
Isaiah 41:10: "Do not fear, because I am with you; do not haunt yourself, because I am your God; I strengthen you, and help you, and I support you with my faithful right hand." This verse shows Judas's confidence in God and how he trusted his help to overcome his enemies.
2 Samuel 22:33: "God is my fortress and my strength, and He perfectly detangles my way." This verse also shows Judas's trust in God and how he believed that God would help him in his conflicts.
Psalm 144:1: "Blessed be the Lord, my rock, who teaches my hands to the battle and my fingers to war." This verse shows how God prepares his people for battle and how he is praised for it.
Ephesians 6:11: "Coat of all God's armor, that you may be firm against the shrewd cunning of the devil." This verse shows the importance of spiritual preparation for battle and how important it is to have strong armor to fight spiritual enemies.
