Psalms, 52

1. For the leader. A maskil of David,

2. when Doeg the Edomite went and told Saul, "David went to the house of Ahimelech."

2. plotting crime? Your tongue is razor-sharp, you artist in perfidy.

3. Why do you glory in evil, you scandalous liar? All day long

3. You prefer evil to good, lying to uprightness. Pause

4. you plot destruction; your tongue is like a sharpened razor, you skillful deceiver.

4. You revel in destructive talk, treacherous tongue!

5. You love evil rather than good, lies rather than honest speech. Selah

5. That is why God will crush you, destroy you once and for all, snatch you from your tent, uproot you from the land of the living.Pause

6. You love any word that destroys, you deceitful tongue.

6. The upright will be awestruck as they see it, they will mock him,

7. Now God will strike you down, leave you crushed forever, Pluck you from your tent, uproot you from the land of the living. Selah

7. 'So much for someone who would not place his reliance in God, but relied on his own great wealth, and made himself strong by crime.'
