Isaiah chapter 29 begins with a warning against Jerusalem, which is described as a city surrounded and oppressed, but does not realize its condition of spiritual blindness. Jeremiah 5:21: "I heard this now, O foolish people and without understanding, that you have eyes and not see, that you have heard and not heard." Just as Isaiah warned Jerusalem about his spiritual blindness, Jeremiah also talks about the foolishness of the people who cannot see or hear the truth.
