Matthew, 8

33. And they that kept them fled, and went their ways into the city, and told every thing, and what was befallen to the possessed of the devils.

St. Matthew 8 begins with Jesus performing several miracles, including the healing of a leper and the healing of the servant of a centurion. Ephesians 6:12: "For we do not have to fight against flesh and blood, but rather against principalities, against the powers, against the princes of darkness of this century, against the spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places." This passage speaks of the spiritual battle that is happening in our world, and which is overcome by the power of Jesus.

Hebrews 11:6: "Now, without faith it is impossible to please him; for it is necessary that he who approaches God believes that he exists, and that he is a rewarding of those who seek him." Faith is a central theme throughout the chapter of St. Matthew 8, and this passage in Hebrews highlights the importance of faith in our spiritual life.

Mark 5:19: "But Jesus did not allow him, but he said unto him, Go to thy house, to thy, and announce how great the Lord has done to you, and as the mercy of you had." This verse speaks of the importance of witnessing the great things Jesus has done in our lives, as well as the healed man of demons in St. Matthew 8 is instructed to do.

John 14:6: "Jesus said unto him, I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but for me." Jesus is the way to salvation and a full and abundant life.
