1 Samuel, 22

8. That all of you have conspired against me, and [there is] none that sheweth me that my son hath made a league with the son of Jesse, and [there is] none of you that is sorry for me, or sheweth unto me that my son hath stirred up my servant against me, to lie in wait, as at this day?

These words of Jesus instruct his disciples to flee and take refuge elsewhere when they are persecuted, which is exactly what David and his followers did as they flee to Adullam.

Hebrews 13:5-6-"Be your life exempt from greed, contenting you with what you have; for he himself said, I will not let you, nor will I help you. And so with confidence we dared to say, The Lord is my helper , and I will not fear what the man can do to me. " These verses encourage believers not to give in to greed and to trust the Lord as his helper and protector, just as David did during his Saul escape.
