23. [And that] the whole land thereof [is] brimstone, and salt, [and] burning, [that] it is not sown, nor beareth, nor any grass groweth therein, like the overthrow of Sodom, and Gomorrah, Admah, and Zeboim, which the LORD overthrew in his anger, and in his wrath:

Deuteronomy 29 deals with the renewal of the covenant between God and the people of Israel after the death of Moses. This is the covenant I will do with the community of Israel after those days, declares the Lord. I will put my law in their heart and write it in their hearts. God, and they will be my people.
