Numbers 12 reports a situation in which Miriam and Aaron, sister and brother of Moses, begin to speak ill of Moses because of his Cuxita wife. They question Moses' authority and question why God speaks only to him. As a result, God rebukes Miriam and Aaron, and Miriam is punished with leprosy. Exodus 4:24-26: "Now it happened that, on the way, in an inn, the Lord went out to meet him, and wanted to kill him. Then he took a sharp stone, cut his son's fortreskin and threw it at the feet of Moses, saying, You are a bloodthirsty husband. And the Lord left him alone.
