Jeremiah, 44

8. Will you go on provoking me by the works of your hands, by sacrificing to strange gods here in the land of Egypt where you have come to live? Will you be rooted out and become a curse and a disgrace among all the nations of the earth?

In Jeremiah 44, God condemns the people of Judah for their continuous disobedience and for persisting to worship foreign gods. The people refuse to hear God's message and claim that they will continue to worship the "Queen of Heaven." God states that the people will suffer severe punishments for their disobedience, including destruction and exile. Below are five verses related to the topics addressed in Jeremiah 44:

Deuteronomy 28:15: "However, if you do not obey the Lord your God, and carefully follow all your commandments and decrees that I give you today, all these curses will come upon you and reach them." This verse shows how God warned the people of Judah to obey their commandments or face serious consequences.

Exodus 20:3-6: "Thou shalt not have other gods before me. Thou shalt not make it a sculpted image, nor any figure on heaven, nor under the earth, nor in the waters under the earth. You will not even worship them, for I, the Lord, your God, I am a zealous God, who punishes the iniquity of parents in their children until the third and fourth generation of those who despise me.
