Philemon, 1

1. Paul, a prisoner for Christ Jesus, and Timothy our brother, to Philemon, our beloved and our co-worker,

1:4-5 - Paolo esprime la sua gioia e gratitudine per le preghiere e l'amore di Filemone, sottolineando l'importanza della fede pratica in Cristo. La fede cristiana non si limita all'ambito spirituale, ma si manifesta nella cura e nel sostegno degli altri (vedi anche Galati 5:6 e 1 Giovanni 3:18).

1:6 - Paolo prega che la fede di Filemone sia efficace nel comprendere il bene che fa per gli altri. L'apostolo sottolinea che la fede vera e attiva si traduce in azioni che edificano la chiesa e riflettono l'amore di Cristo (cfr. anche Giacomo 2:14-17 e Matteo 25:35-40).

1:10-11 - Paolo implora pietà per Onesimo, uno schiavo fuggitivo. Indica la trasformazione di Onesimo come esempio del potere redentore del Vangelo, che trasforma vite e relazioni (vedi anche Efesini 6:9 e Colossesi 4:9).

1:12-14 - Paolo offre Onesimo come "figlio" a Filemone, chiedendogli di accoglierlo non più come uno schiavo ma come un fratello. Questo gesto simboleggia la nuova identità che tutti i cristiani hanno in Cristo, dove le distinzioni sociali vengono trascese (cfr anche 2 Corinzi 5:16-17 e Galati 3:28).

1:15-16 - Paolo suggerisce che la separazione di Onesimo fu provvidenziale, affinché egli potesse essere utile sia a Paolo che a Filemone. L'apostolo insegna che attraverso le difficoltà, Dio può creare opportunità di redenzione e di ristabilimento delle relazioni (vedi anche Romani 8:28 e 2 Corinzi 5:18).

Versi relativi a Philemon, 1:

Filemone capitolo 1 presenta un appello personale di Paolo. In che modo il Vangelo trasforma le relazioni?
