1 Thessalonians, 3

5. For this reason, when I could bear it no longer, I sent that I might know your faith, for fear that somehow the tempter had tempted you and that our labor would be in vain.

Chapter 3 of 1 Thessalonians describes how Paul sent Timothy to know the news of the The Church in Thessalonica and to encourage them in their faith. Timothy comes back with good news about the firmness of the faith of the Thessalonians, which brings great comfort to Paul.
