3. But the princes of the Ammonites said to Hanun, "Do you think, because David has sent comforters to you, that he is honoring your father? Have not his servants come to you to search and to overthrow and to spy out the land?"

1 Chronicles 19 tells the history of war between David and the Ammonites. The chapter begins with David showing goodness to Hanum, son of the ammonite king, but Hanum insults him and humiliates him, which leads to war between the two peoples.
