Ephesians, 1

1. Paul, by the will of God an apostle of Christ Jesus, to God's holy people, faithful in Christ Jesus.

1. Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God, To the saints who are also faithful in Christ Jesus:

2. Grace and peace to you from God our Father and from the Lord Jesus Christ.

3. Blessed be God the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with all the spiritual blessings of heaven in Christ.

7. in whom, through his blood, we gain our freedom, the forgiveness of our sins. Such is the richness of the grace

11. And it is in him that we have received our heritage, marked out beforehand as we were, under the plan of the One who guides all things as he decides by his own will,

12. chosen to be, for the praise of his glory, the people who would put their hopes in Christ before he came.

12. we who first hoped in Christ have been destined and appointed to live for the praise of his glory.

13. Now you too, in him, have heard the message of the truth and the gospel of your salvation, and having put your trust in it you have been stamped with the seal of the Holy Spirit of the Promise,

13. In him you also, who have heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and have believed in him, were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit,

14. who is the pledge of our inheritance, for the freedom of the people whom God has taken for his own, for the praise of his glory.

14. which is the guarantee of our inheritance until we acquire possession of it, to the praise of his glory.

15. That is why I, having once heard about your faith in the Lord Jesus, and your love for all God's holy people,

15. For this reason, because I have heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love toward all the saints,

16. have never failed to thank God for you and to remember you in my prayers.

17. May the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, give you a spirit of wisdom and perception of what is revealed, to bring you to full knowledge of him.

18. May he enlighten the eyes of your mind so that you can see what hope his call holds for you, how rich is the glory of the heritage he offers among his holy people,

18. having the eyes of your hearts enlightened, that you may know what is the hope to which he has called you, what are the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints,

19. and how extraordinarily great is the power that he has exercised for us believers; this accords with the strength of his power

20. at work in Christ, the power which he exercised in raising him from the dead and enthroning him at his right hand, in heaven,

20. which he accomplished in Christ when he raised him from the dead and made him sit at his right hand in the heavenly places,

21. far above every principality, ruling force, power or sovereignty, or any other name that can be named, not only in this age but also in the age to come.

22. He has put all things under his feet, and made him, as he is above all things, the head of the Church;

1:3-6 - Paolo loda Dio per l'elezione dei cristiani in Cristo prima della fondazione del mondo, sottolineando la grazia divina. La salvezza è un'opera di Dio dall'eternità, a dimostrazione della Sua sovranità e del Suo amore (vedi anche 2 Timoteo 1:9 e 1 Pietro 1:2).

1:7-10 - La redenzione in Cristo è il fulcro di questo brano, che sottolinea come il perdono dei peccati sia concesso dalla grazia di Dio. La rivelazione del mistero della volontà di Dio in Cristo è la chiave per comprendere l'opera della redenzione (vedere anche Colossesi 1:13-14 e Romani 16:25-27).

1:13-14 - I credenti sono suggellati dallo Spirito Santo come garanzia della loro futura eredità, a simboleggiare la sicurezza e la certezza della salvezza. Lo Spirito Santo è donato come sigillo di autenticità e impegno (vedi anche 2 Corinzi 1:22 e Romani 8:16).

1:15-23 - Paolo prega per ricevere sapienza e rivelazione in Cristo, affinché i credenti possano comprendere la grandezza della potenza di Dio nelle loro vite. La risurrezione di Cristo è evidenziata come manifestazione della potenza divina (vedi anche Filippesi 3:10 e Colossesi 1:18).

Versi relativi a Ephesians, 1:

Efesini capitolo 1 presenta il piano eterno di Dio per l'umanità. Come descrive Paolo la nostra identità in Cristo? Questo testo fondamentale espone le benedizioni spirituali dei credenti, tra cui la predestinazione, l'adozione e la redenzione. L'apostolo sottolinea la sovranità di Dio, l'unità in Cristo e il ruolo dello Spirito Santo. Il capitolo culmina con una potente preghiera per la saggezza e la rivelazione. Romani 8:29-30: "Per coloro che ha preconosciuti, li ha anche predestinati ad essere conformi all'immagine del Figlio suo, affinché fossero il primogenito tra molti fratelli. E quelli che ha predestinati, li ha anche chiamati; quelli che ha chiamati, li ha anche giustificati; coloro che ha giustificato, li ha anche glorificati." - Questi versetti affrontano il tema della predestinazione, discusso in Efesini 1:4-5, 11.

1 Pietro 1:3-4: "Benedetto sia il Dio e Padre del nostro Signore Gesù Cristo! Secondo la sua grande misericordia, egli ci ha rigenerati ad una speranza viva, mediante la risurrezione di Gesù Cristo dai morti, ad un'eredità che mai potrà perire, né contaminarsi, né perdere valore." - Questo passaggio riflette i temi della lode e dell'eredità spirituale che si trovano in Efesini 1:3, 11, 14.

Giovanni 1:16: "Tutti abbiamo ricevuto dalla sua pienezza, grazia su grazia." - Questo versetto si riferisce all'idea di pienezza in Cristo menzionata in Efesini 1:23.

Filippesi 2:9-11: "Per questo Dio lo ha innalzato al massimo posto e gli ha dato il nome che è al di sopra di ogni nome, affinché nel nome di Gesù ogni ginocchio si pieghi nei cieli, sulla terra e sotto terra, e ogni lingua confessi che Gesù Cristo è il Signore, alla gloria di Dio Padre." - Questo passaggio riecheggia l'esaltazione di Cristo descritta in Efesini 1:20-22.
