Jeremiah, 48

32. O vine of Sibmah, I will weep for thee with the weeping of Jazer: thy plants are gone over the sea, they reach [even] to the sea of Jazer: the spoiler is fallen upon thy summer fruits and upon thy vintage.

Jeremiah 48 describes the imminent destruction of Moab by the hands of Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon, because of his arrogance and wickedness against God. The verses selected below describe the divine judgment on Moab, the lamentation of their people, and God's sovereignty over all nations.

Isaiah 16:6 - "We have heard of the superb of Moab, his arrogance and pride, his insolence and his empty brave." This verse refers to Moab's arrogant attitude, which led to his conviction and punishment.

Psalm 60:8 - "Moab is my basin of washing my feet; About Edom I throw my sandal; on philistia I give my cry of victory." This verse shows how God controls nations and uses them to perform their will.
