2 Peter, 3

17. So then, dearly beloved, as you have been warned, be careful lest those people who have gone astray deceive you in turn and drag you along, making you stumble and finally fall away.

Chapter 3 of 2 Peter deals with the return of Jesus Christ and the destruction of the world by fire. Peter urges Christians to live godly and eagerly await the return of Christ. Below are five verses related to the topics covered in the chapter:

Matthew 24:36: "But about that day and time no one knows, neither the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father." This verse talks about the uncertainty of the date of Christ's return, which corroborates Peter's teaching in 2 Peter 3:10 about the coming of the Lord "as a thief."

Hebrews 10:27: "But a terrible expectation of judgment and a burning fire that will devour the opponents." The author of Hebrews talks about the punishment of the wicked on the day of judgment, a theme that is also addressed by Peter in 2 Peter 3:7.

James 5:7-8: "He thirsts, brothers, patients until the coming of the Lord. Behold, the farmer expects the precious fruit of the earth, waiting for him with patients, until he receives the temporary rain and serod. patients and strengthen your heart, for the coming of the Lord is near.
