3. “If only we had died in Egypt,” and, “If only we would perish in this vast wilderness,” and, “May the Lord not lead us into this land, lest we fall by the sword, and our wives, as well as our children, be led away as captives. Is it not better to return to Egypt?”
Numbers 14 is a chapter that reports the rebellion of the children of Israel against God after receiving the report of the spies that were sent to the Promised Land. They refuse to enter Earth and question the leadership of Moses and God. As a result, God threatens to destroy the people, but Moses intercede for them and God decides to forgive them, but with consequences. Deuteronomy 1:21: "Here is the Lord, thy God, has put before you the earth; go up and take possession of it, as the Lord said to you, God of your parents; do not fear, nor scare you." This verse is an exhortation of Moses to the people to have the courage and take possession of the promised land.
