Jeremiah, 44

22. And the Lord could no longer bear this, because of the evil of your intentions, and because of the abominations that you have done. And so, your land has become a desolation, and an astonishment, and a curse, and it is without an inhabitant, even to this day.

In Jeremiah 44, God condemns the people of Judah for their continuous disobedience and for persisting to worship foreign gods. The people refuse to hear God's message and claim that they will continue to worship the "Queen of Heaven." Deuteronomy 28:15: "However, if you do not obey the Lord your God, and carefully follow all your commandments and decrees that I give you today, all these curses will come upon you and reach them." Exodus 20:3-6: "Thou shalt not have other gods before me. Thou shalt not make it a sculpted image, nor any figure on heaven, nor under the earth, nor in the waters under the earth. You will not even worship them, for I, the Lord, your God, I am a zealous God, who punishes the iniquity of parents in their children until the third and fourth generation of those who despise me.
