This verse refers to Noah's flood as a promise of God that he will never destroy the earth with water again.

Hebrews 11:7: "By faith, Noah, divinely instructed about events that have not yet been seen and being fearful to God, built an ark to save his family; and through faith condemned the world and became heir to justice that is according to faith.
