2 Maccabees, 13

14. And so, giving everything to God, the Creator of the world, and having exhorted his own to contend with fortitude and to stand up, even unto death, for the laws, the temple, the city, their country and the citizens: he positioned his army around Modin.

2 Chronicles 13:12: "Now God is with us ahead, and His priests with the trumpets to touch the alarm against you. O Israelites, do not fight against the Lord, the God of your ancestors, for you will not be successful ". This verse highlights the importance of praying toward the temple of God, something Judas and his men also did during battle.
