Zephaniah, 1

4. "I will stretch out my hand against Judah, and against all the inhabitants of Jerusalem; and I will cut off from this place the remnant of Ba'al and the name of the idolatrous priests;

Chapter 1 of Sophonies begins with the prophecy of destruction that will come upon Judah and Jerusalem due to its idolatry and injustice. God Himself will punish them for their disobedience. Below are five verses related to the topics covered in sophonies 1:

Jeremiah 25:34: "UIVAI, shepherds, and cry; and revolve into the gray, leaders of the flock; for your days have already been fulfilled to be dead; and I will disperse, and fall as a desirable vessel." This verse shows that God's judgment is imminent and inevitable, and no one will escape him.
