Luc, 4

1. Jésus, rempli de l'Esprit-Saint, revint du Jourdain, et il fut conduit par l'Esprit dans le désert,

1. Jesus returned from the Jordan and was led by the Spirit into the desert

2. pendant quarante jours tenté par le diable. Il ne mangea rien durant ces jours-là, et, quand ils furent passés, il eut faim.

2. for forty days, to be tempted by the devil. He ate nothing during those days, and when they were over he was hungry.

3. Le diable lui dit : " Si vous êtes le fils de Dieu, dites à cette pierre qu'elle devienne du pain. "

3. The devil said to him, "If you are the Son of God, command this stone to become bread."

4. Jésus lui répondit : " Il est écrit : L'homme ne vit pas seulement de pain. "

4. Jesus answered him, "It is written, 'One does not live by bread alone.'"

5. Et l'ayant élevé, il lui montra en un instant tous les royaumes de la terre,

5. Then he took him up and showed him all the kingdoms of the world in a single instant.

6. et le diable lui dit : " Je vous donnerai toute cette puissance avec leur gloire, car elle m'a été remise et je la donne à qui je veux.

6. The devil said to him, "I shall give to you all this power and their glory; for it has been handed over to me, and I may give it to whomever I wish.

7. Si donc vous vous prosternez devant moi, elle sera toute à vous. "

7. All this will be yours, if you worship me."

8. Jésus répondant lui dit : " Il est écrit : Tu adoreras le Seigneur, ton dieu, et tu ne serviras que lui seul. "

8. Jesus said to him in reply, "It is written: 'You shall worship the Lord, your God, and him alone shall you serve.'"

9. Il le conduisit à Jérusalem, et le posa sur le pinacle du temple et lui dit : " Si vous êtes Fils de Dieu, jetez-vous d'ici en bas;

9. Then he led him to Jerusalem, made him stand on the parapet of the temple, and said to him, "If you are the Son of God, throw yourself down from here,

10. car il est écrit : Il donnera pour vous des ordres à ses anges pour vous garder,

10. for it is written: 'He will command his angels concerning you, to guard you,'

11. et : Ils vous prendront sur leurs mains, de peur que votre pied ne heurte contre une pierre. "

11. and: 'With their hands they will support you, lest you dash your foot against a stone.'"

12. Jésus répondant lui dit : " Il est dit : Tu ne tenteras point le Seigneur, ton Dieu. "

12. Jesus said to him in reply, "It also says, 'You shall not put the Lord, your God, to the test.'"

13. Ayant épuisé toute tentation, le diable s'éloigna de lui jusqu'au temps (marqué).

13. When the devil had finished every temptation, he departed from him for a time.

14. Jésus retourna avec la puissance de l'Esprit en Galilée, et sa renommée se répandit dans toute la région.

14. Jesus returned to Galilee in the power of the Spirit, and news of him spread throughout the whole region.

15. Et il enseignait dans leurs synagogues, et tous publiaient ses louanges.

15. He taught in their synagogues and was praised by all.

16. Il vint à Nazareth, où il avait été élevé, et il entra, selon sa coutume le jour du sabbat, dans la synagogue, et il se leva pour faire la lecture.

16. into the synagogue on the sabbath day. He stood up to read

17. On lui remit le livre du prophète Isaïe; et ayant déroulé le livre, il trouva l'endroit où il était écrit :

17. and was handed a scroll of the prophet Isaiah. He unrolled the scroll and found the passage where it was written:

18. L'Esprit du Seigneur est sur moi, parce qu'il m'a oint pour annoncer la bonne nouvelle aux pauvres; il m'a envoyé publier aux captifs la délivrance, aux aveugles le retour à la vue, renvoyer libres les opprimés,

18. "The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to bring glad tidings to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim liberty to captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to let the oppressed go free,

19. publier l'année favorable du Seigneur.

19. and to proclaim a year acceptable to the Lord."

20. Ayant roulé le livre, il le rendit à l'employé et s'assit; et tous, dans la synagogue, avaient les yeux attachés sur lui.

20. Rolling up the scroll, he handed it back to the attendant and sat down, and the eyes of all in the synagogue looked intently at him.

21. Il se mit à dire à leur adresse : " Aujourd'hui cette Ecriture est accomplie devant vous. "

21. He said to them, "Today this scripture passage is fulfilled in your hearing."

22. Et tous lui rendaient témoignage et admiraient les paroles toutes de grâce qui sortaient de sa bouche, et ils disaient : " N'est-ce pas là le fils de Joseph? "

22. And all spoke highly of him and were amazed at the gracious words that came from his mouth. They also asked, "Isn't this the son of Joseph?"

23. Et il leur dit : " Sans doute, vous me direz cet adage : Médecin, guéris-toi toi-même. Tout ce que nous avons ouï dire que vous avez fait pour Capharnaüm, faites-le ici aussi, dans votre patrie. "

23. He said to them, "Surely you will quote me this proverb, 'Physician, cure yourself,' and say, 'Do here in your native place the things that we heard were done in Capernaum.'"

24. Et il dit : " En vérité, je vous le dis, aucun prophète n'est en faveur dans sa patrie.

24. And he said, "Amen, I say to you, no prophet is accepted in his own native place.

25. Je vous le dis, en vérité, il y avait beaucoup de veuves en Israël aux jours d'Elie, lorsque le ciel fut fermé pendant trois ans et six mois, quand il y eu une grande famine sur toute la terre;

25. Indeed, I tell you, there were many widows in Israel in the days of Elijah when the sky was closed for three and a half years and a severe famine spread over the entire land.

26. et Elie ne fut envoyé vers aucune d'elles, mais à Sarepta de Sidon, vers une femme veuve.

26. It was to none of these that Elijah was sent, but only to a widow in Zarephath in the land of Sidon.

27. Et il y avait beaucoup de lépreux en Israël au temps du prophète Elisée; et aucun d'eux ne fut guéri, mais Naaman le Syrien. "

27. Again, there were many lepers in Israel during the time of Elisha the prophet; yet not one of them was cleansed, but only Naaman the Syrian."

28. En entendant cela, ils furent tous remplis de colère dans la synagogue,

28. When the people in the synagogue heard this, they were all filled with fury.

29. et s'étant levés, ils le poussèrent hors de la ville, et le menèrent jusqu'au sommet de la montagne, sur laquelle leur ville était bâtie, pour le précipiter.

29. They rose up, drove him out of the town, and led him to the brow of the hill on which their town had been built, to hurl him down headlong.

30. Mais lui, passant au milieu d'eux, s'en alla.

30. But he passed through the midst of them and went away.

31. Il descendit à Capharnaüm, ville de Galilée, et il les enseignait le jour du sabbat.

31. Jesus then went down to Capernaum, a town of Galilee. He taught them on the sabbath,

32. Et ils étaient stupéfaits de son enseignement, parce qu'il parlait avec autorité.

32. and they were astonished at his teaching because he spoke with authority.

33. Il y avait dans la synagogue un homme possédé de l'esprit d'un démon impur, qui s'écria très fort :

33. In the synagogue there was a man with the spirit of an unclean demon, and he cried out in a loud voice,

34. " Ah ! Qu'avons-nous affaire ensemble, Jésus de Nazareth? Vous êtes venu pour nous perdre? Je sais qui vous êtes : le saint de Dieu. "

34. "Ha! What have you to do with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are--the Holy One of God!"

35. Et Jésus lui commanda avec force : " Tais-toi et sors de lui. " Et le démon, l'ayant jeté (par terre) au milieu, sortit de lui sans lui avoir fait aucun mal.

35. Jesus rebuked him and said, "Be quiet! Come out of him!" Then the demon threw the man down in front of them and came out of him without doing him any harm.

36. Et la stupeur fut sur tous, et ils s'entretenaient entre eux, disant : " Quelle parole que celle-là ! Il commande avec autorité et puissance aux esprits impurs, et ils sortent ! "

36. They were all amazed and said to one another, "What is there about his word? For with authority and power he commands the unclean spirits, and they come out."

37. Et un bruit circulait à son sujet en tout endroit de la région.

37. And news of him spread everywhere in the surrounding region.

38. Ayant quitté la synagogue, il entra dans la maison de Simon. Or, la belle-mère de Simon était atteinte d'une grosse fièvre, et ils le prièrent pour elle.

38. After he left the synagogue, he entered the house of Simon. Simon's mother-in-law was afflicted with a severe fever, and they interceded with him about her.

39. Venant auprès d'elle, il commanda avec force à la fièvre qui la quitta; et s'étant levée aussitôt, elle se mit à les servir.

39. He stood over her, rebuked the fever, and it left her. She got up immediately and waited on them.

40. Lorsque le soleil fut couché, tous ceux qui avaient chez eux des malades souffrant de maladies diverses, les lui amenèrent; et lui, imposant les mains à chacun d'eux, les guérissait.

40. At sunset, all who had people sick with various diseases brought them to him. He laid his hands on each of them and cured them.

41. Des démons aussi sortaient de beaucoup, criant et disant : " Tu es le Fils de Dieu ! " et, commandant avec force, il ne les laissait pas parler, parce qu'ils savaient qu'il était le Christ.

41. And demons also came out from many, shouting, "You are the Son of God." But he rebuked them and did not allow them to speak because they knew that he was the Messiah.

42. Quand il fit jour, il sortit et alla dans un lieu désert. Les foules se mirent à sa recherche et vinrent jusqu'à lui; et elles voulaient le retenir, pour qu'il ne les quittât point.

42. At daybreak, Jesus left and went to a deserted place. The crowds went looking for him, and when they came to him, they tried to prevent him from leaving them.

43. mais il leur dit : " Il faut que j'annonce aussi aux autres villes la bonne nouvelle du royaume de Dieu, car j'ai été envoyé pour cela. "

43. But he said to them, "To the other towns also I must proclaim the good news of the kingdom of God, because for this purpose I have been sent."

44. Et il prêchait dans les synagogues de la Judée.

44. And he was preaching in the synagogues of Judea.
