Josué, 13

1. Josué était vieux, avancé en âge;Yahweh lui dit: «Tu es devenu vieux, tu es avancé enâge, et il reste encore un très grand pays àconquérir.

1. When Joshua was old and advanced in years, the LORD said to him: "Though now you are old and advanced in years, a very large part of the land still remains to be conquered.

2. Voici le pays qui reste: tous les disctricts des Philistins ettout le territoire des Gessuriens,

2. This additional land includes all Geshur and all the districts of the Philistines

3. depuis le Schichor qui coule à l'orient de l'Egypte,jusqu'à la frontière d'Accaron vers le nord,contrée qui doit être réputéeChananéenne; les cinq princes des Philistins, celui deGaza, celui d'Azoth, celui d'Ascalon, celui de Geth et celuid'Accaron;

3. (from the stream adjoining Egypt to the boundary of Ekron in the north is reckoned Canaanite territory, though held by the five lords of the Philistines in Gaza, Ashdod, Ashkelon, Gath and Ekron); also where the Avvim are in the south;

4. les Hévéens au midi; tout le pays desChananéens, et Maara qui est aux Sidoniens, jusqu'àAphec, jusqu'à la frontière des Amorrhéens;le pays des Gébalites,

4. all the land of the Canaanites from Mearah of the Sidonians to Aphek, and the boundaries of the Amorites;

5. et tout le Liban vers le soleil levant, depuis Baal-Gad au pieddu mont Hermon jusqu'à l'entrée de Hamath;

5. and the Gebalite territory; and all the Lebanon on the east, from Baal-gad at the foot of Mount Hermon to Labo in the land of Hamath.

6. tous les habitants de la montagne, depuis le Liban jusqu'auxeaux de Maséréphoth, savoir tous les Sidoniens: jeles chasserai de devant les enfants d'Israël. Seulementpartage par le sort ces pays en héritage àIsraël, comme je l'ai commandé.

6. At the advance of the Israelites I will drive out all the Sidonian inhabitants of the mountain regions between Lebanon and Misrephoth-maim; at least include these areas in the division of the Israelite heritage, just as I have commanded you.

7. Et maintenant répartis ce pays en héritage auxneuf tribus et à la demi-tribu deManassé.»

7. Now, therefore, apportion among the nine tribes and the half-tribe of Manasseh the land which is to be their heritage."

8. Avec l'autre moitié, les Rubénites et les Gaditesont reçu leur héritage, que Moïse leur adonné de l'autre côté du Jourdain, àl'orient, comme le leur a donné Moïse, serviteur deYahweh:

8. Now the other half of the tribe of Manasseh as well as the Reubenites and Gadites, had received their heritage which Moses, the servant of the LORD, had given them east of the Jordan:

9. depuis Aroër sur le bord du torrent de l'Arnon, et depuisla ville qui est au milieu de la vallée, toute la plainede Médaba jusqu'à Dibon;

9. from Aroer on the bank of the Wadi Arnon and the city in the wadi itself, through the tableland of Medeba and Dibon,

10. toutes les villes de Séhon, roi des Amorrhéens,qui régnait à Hésebon, jusqu'à lafrontière des enfants d'Ammon;

10. with the rest of the cities of Sihon, king of the Amorites, who reigned in Heshbon, to the boundary of the Ammonites;

11. Galaad, le territoire des Gessuriens et des Machatiens, toutela montagne d'Hermon, et tout Basan, jusqu'àSalécha:

11. also Gilead and the territory of the Geshurites and Maacathites, all Mount Hermon, and all Bashan as far as Salecah,

12. tout le royaume d'Og en Basan, qui régnait àAstaroth et à Edraï: c'était le dernier restedes Rephaïm. Moïse battit ces rois et les chassa.

12. the entire kingdom in Bashan of Og, a survivor of the Rephaim, who reigned at Ashtaroth and Edrei. Though Moses conquered and occupied these territories,

13. Mais les enfants d'Israël ne chassèrent point lesGessuriens et les Machatiens, et Gessur et Machat habitent aumileu d'Israël jusqu'à ce jour.

13. the Israelites did not dislodge the Geshurites and Maacathites, so that Geshur and Maacath survive in the midst of Israel to this day.

14. La tribu de Lévi fut la seule à laquelleMoïse ne donna pas d'héritage; les sacrifices faitspar le feu devant Yahweh, le Dieu d'Israël, sont sonhéritage, comme il le lui avait dit.

14. However, to the tribe of Levi Moses assigned no heritage since, as the LORD had promised them, the LORD, the God of Israel, is their heritage.

15. Moïse avait donné à la tribu des fils deRuben une part selon leurs familles.

15. What Moses gave to the Reubenite clans:

16. Ils eurent pour territoire, à partir d'Aroër surle bord du torrent de l'Arnon, et de la ville située aumilieu de la vallée, toute la plaine près deMédaba,

16. Their territory reached from Aroer, on the bank of the Wadi Arnon, and the city in the wadi itself, through the tableland about Medeba,

17. Hésebon et toutes ses villes dans la plaine, Dibon,Bamoth-Baal, Beth-Baal-Maon,

17. to include Heshbon and all its towns which are on the tableland, Dibon, Bamoth-baal, Beth-baal-meon,

18. Jassa, Cédimoth, Méphaath,

18. Jahaz, Kedemoth, Mephaath,

19. Cariathaïm, Sabama, Sarath-Asar dans la montagne de lavallée,

19. Kiriathaim, Sibmah, Zereth-shahar on the knoll within the valley,

20. Beth-Phogor, les pentes du Phasga, Beth-Jésimoth,

20. Beth-peor, the slopes of Pisgah, Beth-jeshimoth,

21. toutes les autres villes de la plaine et tout le royaume deSéhon, roi des Amorrhéens, qui régnaità Hésebon: Moïse l'avait battu, lui et lesprinces de Madian, Evi, Récem, Sur, Hur etRébé, tributaires de Séhon, qui habitaientle pays.

21. and the other cities of the tableland and, generally, of the kingdom of Sihon. This Amorite king, who reigned in Heshbon, Moses had killed, with his vassals, the princes of Midian, who were settled in the land: Evi, Rekem, Zur, Hur and Reba;

22. Le devin Balaam, fils de Béor, fut aussi du nombre deceux que les enfants d'Israël firent périr parl'épée.

22. and among their slain followers the Israelites put to the sword also the soothsayer Balaam, son of Beor.

23. Ainsi le territoire des fils de Ruben atteignait jusqu'auJourdain et à son territoire. Tel fut l'héritage -les villes et leurs villages - des fils de Ruben, et leursfamilles.

23. The boundary of the Reubenites was the bank of the Jordan. These cities and their villages were the heritage of the clans of the Reubenites.

24. Moïse donna à la tribu de Gad, aux fils de Gad,une part selon leurs familles.

24. What Moses gave to the Gadite clans:

25. Ils eurent pour territoire: Jaser, toutes les villes deGalaad, la moitié du pays des enfants d'Ammon,jusqu'à Aroër, qui est vis-à-vis de Rabba,

25. Their territory included Jazer, all the cities of Gilead, and half the land of the Ammonites as far as Aroer, toward Rabbah (that is,

26. depuis Hésebon jusqu'à Raboth-Masphé etBétonim, et depuis Manaïm jusqu'à lafrontière de Dabir;

26. from Heshbon to Ramath-mizpeh and Betonim, and from Mahanaim to the boundary of Lodebar);

27. et, dans la vallée, Beth-Haram, Beth-Nemra, Socoth etSaphon, reste du royaume de Séhon, roi d'Hésebon;le Jourdain et son territoire, jusqu'àl'extrémité de la mer de Cenéreth, del'autre côté du Jourdain, à l'orient.

27. and in the Jordan valley: Beth-haram, Beth-nimrah, Succoth, Zaphon, the other part of the kingdom of Sihon, king of Heshbon, with the bank of the Jordan to the southeastern tip of the Sea of Chinnereth.

28. Tel fut l'héritage - les villes et leurs villages - desfils de Gad, selon leurs familles.

28. These cities and their villages were the heritage of the clans of the Gadites.

29. Moïse donna à la demi-tribu de Manassé, auxfils de Manassé, une part selon leurs familles.

29. What Moses gave to the clans of the half-tribe of Manasseh:

30. Ils eurent pour territoire, à partir de Manaïm,tout Basan, tout le royaume d'Og, roi de Basan, et tous lesbourgs de Jaïr en Basan, soixante villes.

30. Their territory included Mahanaim, all of Bashan, the entire kingdom of Og, king of Bashan, and all the villages of Jair, which are sixty cities in Bashan.

31. La moitié de Galaad, Astaroth et Edraï, villes duroyaume d'Og en Basan, furent données aux fils de Machir,fils de Manassé, à la moitié des fils deMachir, selon leurs familles.

31. Half of Gilead, with Ashtaroth and Edrei, once the royal cities of Og in Bashan, fell to the descendants of Machir, son of Manasseh, for half the clans descended from Machir.

32. Telles sont les parts que distribua Moïse, lorsqu'ilétait dans les plaines de Moab, de l'autrecôté du Jourdain, en face de Jéricho,à l'orient.

32. These are the portions which Moses gave when he was in the plains of Moab, beyond the Jordan east of Jericho.

33. Mais Moïse ne donna pas d'héritage à latribu de Lévi; Yahweh, le Dieu d'Israël, est sonhéritage, comme il le lui a dit. $

33. However, Moses gave no heritage to the tribe of Levi, since the LORD himself, the God of Israel, is their heritage, as he promised.
