Ezéchiel, 22

1. La parole de Yahweh me fut adres-sée en ces termes

1. Thus the word of the LORD came to me:

2. "Et toi, fils de l'homme, jugeras--tu, jugeras-tu la ville de sang? Fais-lui connaître toutes ses abominations,

2. You, son of man, would you judge, would you judge the bloody city? Then make known all her abominations,

3. et dis: Ainsi parle le Seigneur Yahweh: Ville qui répand le sang au dedans d'elle, pour que son temps vienne, et qui se couvre d'idoles infâmes pour se souiller!

3. and say: Thus says the Lord GOD: Woe to the city which sheds blood within herself so that her time has come, and which has made idols for her own defilement.

4. Par le sang que tu as répandu, tu t'es rendue criminelle; par les idoles infâmes que tu as faites, tu t'es souillée; et tu as ainsi avancé tes jours, et tu es parvenue au terme de tes années. C'est pourquoi je t'ai rendue un objet d'opprobre pour les nations et une risée dans tous les pays.

4. By the blood which you shed you have been made guilty, and with the idols you made you have become defiled; you have brought on your day, so that the end of your years has come. Therefore I make you an object of scorn to the nations and a laughingstock to all foreign lands.

5. Ceux qui sont près et ceux qui sont loin de toi se moqueront de toi, souillée de réputation, grande en désordre!

5. Those near you and those far off shall deride you because of your foul reputation and your great perversity.

6. Voici que les princes d'Israël, chacun selon ses forces, sont occupés chez toi à répandre le sang.

6. See! the princes of Israel, family by family, are in you only for bloodshed.

7. Chez toi, on méprise père et mère; au milieu de toi, on mal-traite l'étranger; chez toi, on opprime l'orphelin et la veuve.

7. Within you, father and mother are despised; in your midst, they extort from the resident alien; within you, they oppress orphans and widows.

8. Tu méprises mon sanctuaire et tu profanes mes sabbats.

8. What is holy to me you have spurned, and my sabbaths you have desecrated.

9. Il y a chez toi des gens qui calomnient pour répandre le sang; chez toi, on mange sur les montagnes; on commet des énormités au milieu de toi.

9. There are those in you who slander to cause bloodshed; within you are those who feast on the mountains; in your midst are those who do lewd things.

10. Chez toi, on découvre la nudité de son père; chez toi, on fait violence à la femme pendant sa souillure.

10. In you are those who uncover the nakedness of their fathers, and in you those who coerce women in their menstrual period.

11. L'un commet l'abomination avec la femme de son prochain, un autre souille par l'impureté sa belle-fille chez toi, un autre fait violence à sa soeur, fille de son père. 12 Chez toi, ou reçoit des présents pour répandre le sang; tu prends l'usure et un intérêt; tu dépouilles par la violence ton prochain; et moi, tu m'oublies, --oracle du Seigneur Yahweh.

11. There are those in you who do abominable things with the wives of their neighbors, men who defile their daughters-in-law by incest, men who coerce their sisters, the daughters of their own fathers.

12. There are those in you who take bribes to shed blood. You exact interest and usury; you despoil your neighbors violently; and me you have forgotten, says the Lord GOD.

13. Mais voici que je frappe dans ma main à cause du gain déshonnête que tu as fait, et à cause du sang qui est au milieu de toi.

13. See, I am brushing one hand against the other because of the unjust profits you have made and because of the blood shed in your midst.

14. Ton coeur tiendra-t-il bon, tes mains seront-elles tenues aux jours où j'agirai contre toi? Moi, Yahweh, j'ai dit et j'agirai.

14. Can your heart remain firm, will your hands be strong, in the days when I deal with you? I, the LORD, have spoken, and I will act.

15. Je te disperserai parmi les nations, je te sèmerai dans les pays, et j'ôterai de toi toute ta souillure,

15. I will disperse you among the nations and scatter you over foreign lands, so that I may purge your uncleanness.

16. et tu seras profanée chez toi aux yeux des nations; et tu sauras que je suis Yahweh. "

16. In you I will allow myself to be profaned in the eyes of the nations; thus you shall know that I am the LORD.

17. La parole de Yahweh me fut adressée en ces termes:

17. Thus the word of the LORD came to me:

18. "Fils de l'homme, la maison d'Israël s'est changée pour moi en scories; eux tous sont de l'airain, de l'étain, du fer et du plomb au milieu du fourneau; ils sont devenus les scories de l'argent.

18. Son of man, the house of Israel has become dross for me. All of them are bronze and tin, iron and lead (in the midst of a furnace): dross from silver have they become.

19. C'est pourquoi ainsi parle le Seigneur Yahweh: Parce que vous êtes tous devenus des scories, à cause de cela, voici que je vais vous rassembler au milieu de Jérusalem.

19. Therefore thus says the Lord GOD: Because all of you have become dross, therefore I must gather you together within Jerusalem.

20. Comme ou met ensemble l'argent, l'airain, le fer, le plomb et l'étain au milieu d'un fourneau et qu'on souffle le feu sur le fourneau pour les fondre, ainsi je vous rassemblerai dans ma colère et mon courroux; je vous mettrai là et je vous fondrai. 21 Je vous rassemblerai et je soufflerai sur vous, avec le feu de ma fureur, et vous serez fondus au milieu de Jérusalem.

20. Just as silver, bronze, iron, lead, and tin are gathered into a furnace and smelted in the roaring flames, so I will gather you together in my furious wrath, put you in, and smelt you.

21.

21. When I have assembled you, I will blast you with the fire of my anger and smelt you with it.

22. Comme on fond l'argent au milieu d'un fourneau, ainsi vous serez fondus au milieu d'elle; et vous saurez que moi, Yahweh, j'ai répandu mon courroux sur vous."

22. You shall be smelted by it just as silver is smelted in a furnace. Thus you shall know that I, the LORD, have poured out my fury on you.

23. La parole de Yahweh me fut adressée en ces termes:

23. Thus the word of the LORD came to me:

24. "Fils de l'homme, dis-lui: Tu es une terre qui n'a pas été purifiée, qui n'a pas été lavée par la pluie, en un jour de colère.

24. Son of man, say to her: You are a land unrained on (that is, not rained on) at the time of my fury.

25. Il y a au milieu d'elle une conspiration de ses prophètes. Comme un lion rugis-sant qui déchire sa proie, ils dévorent les âmes, ils s'emparent des biens et des trésors, ils multiplient ses veuves au milieu d'elle.

25. Her princes are like roaring lions that tear prey; they devour people, seizing their wealth and precious things, and make widows of many within her.

26. Ses prêtres ont violé ma loi et profané mon sanctuaire; ils ne dis-tinguent pas entre le saint et le profane; ils n'enseignent pas la différence entre celui qui est souillé et celui qui est pur; ils ferment leurs yeux sur mes sabbats, et je suis profané au milieu d'eux.

26. Her priests violate my law and profane what is holy to me; they do not distinguish between the sacred and the profane, nor teach the difference between the unclean and the clean; they pay no attention to my sabbaths, so that I have been profaned in their midst.

27. Ses chefs sont au milieu d'elle comme des loups qui déchirent leur proie, répandant le sang, perdant des âmes pour faire des gains.

27. Her nobles within her are like wolves that tear prey, shedding blood and destroying lives to get unjust gain.

28. Et ses prophètes leur plâtrent tous ces crimes; ils ont des visions vaines et des oracles menteurs; ils disent: "Ainsi parle le Seigneur Yahweh" et Yahweh n'a point parlé.

28. Her prophets cover them with whitewash, pretending to visions that are false and performing lying divinations, saying, "Thus says the Lord GOD," although the LORD has not spoken.

29. Le peuple du pays commet des violences et s'a-donne à la rapine; ils foulent le malheu-reux et l'indigent, et font violence à l'étranger sans motif.

29. The people of the land practice extortion and commit robbery; they afflict the poor and the needy, and oppress the resident alien without justice.

30. J'ai cherché parmi eux un homme qui fit une clôture et qui se tint à la brèche devant moi pour le pays, afin que le ne détruise pas; et je ne l'ai pas trouvé.

30. Thus I have searched among them for someone who could build a wall or stand in the breach before me to keep me from destroying the land; but I found no one.

31. Et j'ai répandu sur eux mon courroux, et je tes ai consumés par le feu de ma fureur, et j'ai fait retomber leurs oeuvres sur leur tête,--oracle du Seigneur Yahweh."

31. Therefore I have poured out my fury upon them; with my fiery wrath I have consumed them; I have brought down their conduct upon their heads, says the Lord GOD.
