11. For the sun rose with a burning heat, and parched the grass, and the flower thereof fell off, and the beauty of the shape thereof perished: so also shall the rich man fade away in his ways.

St. James Chapter 1 deals with perseverance in trial and the importance of listening and practicing the Word of God. To provide five verses related to the topics covered in this chapter, we will exclude St. James's verses.

John 13:17: "You know these things, blessed you are if you practice them." This verse emphasizes the importance of practicing what is known, not just listening and knowing the Word of God.
