Deuteronomy 13 deals with the importance of staying true to the Lord and punishment to those who try to bring the Israelites to worship other gods. The chapter warns of the presence of false prophets who can try to seduce the people with signs and wonders to turn against the Lord. Below are five verses related to the topics addressed in Deuteronomy 13:
Deuteronomy 4:35 - "It was shown to you, so that you knew that the Lord is God; no other there is not Him." This verse emphasizes the exclusivity of the Lord as God and the importance of not deviating to other gods.
Deuteronomy 6:14-15 - "Do not follow other gods, of the gods of the peoples who are around you; for the Lord thy God is a zealous God in the midst of you, that the wrath of the Lord thy God may not light up against You and destroy you from the earth. " This verse reinforces the prohibition of worshiping other gods and the serious consequences that may occur if one dodges from the Lord.
Jeremiah 23:16 - "Thus saith the Lord of hosts," You do not hear the words of the prophets who prophesy among you, make you fade; they speak of the vision of your heart, not from the mouth of the Lord. " This verse warns of the false prophets who can try to deceive the people with words that do not come from the Lord.
2 Corinthians 11:13-15-"For such false apostles are fraudulent workers, transfiguring himself into apostles of Christ. And it is not wonder, because Satan himself transfigures himself into the angel of light. ministers transfigure themselves into ministers of justice, the end of which will be according to their works. " This verse highlights the presence of false prophets and teaches the importance of discerning the true message of the Lord.
John 10:27-28-"My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me; and I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one shall snatch them from my hand." This verse talks about the importance of listening to the voice of the Lord and following his ways to avoid being deceived by false prophets or misleading teachings.
