1 Samuel, 22

8. That all of you have conspired against me, and there is no one to inform me, especially when even my son hath entered into league with the soil of Isai? There is not one of you that pitieth my case, nor that giveth me any information: because my son hath raised up my servant against me, plotting against me to this day.

1 Samuel 22 narrates David's escape to Adulão, where he meets with others displeased and oppressed who join him. The chapter also highlights the betrayal of Doeg, Edomita, which informs Saul about the presence of David and his followers in Adulão, resulting in a massacre. Psalm 57:1 - "It has mercy on me, O God, has mercy on me, because my soul trusts you; and in the shadow of your wings shelter, until the calamities pass." This psalm was written by David during his Saul escape, and demonstrates his confidence in God to protect him during this time of danger and distress.

Proverbs 18:10 - "The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous run to her and are safe." This verse highlights the security that comes to trust in the name of the Lord and seek refuge in it.

John 15:18-19 - "If the world hates you, know that, first of which you hated me. If you were from the world, the world would love what was yours, but because you are not the world before I chose you from the world, that's why the world hates you. " Jesus spoke these words to his disciples, and they apply to David and his followers, who were persecuted and hated by Saul and his men.

Matthew 10:23 - "When, therefore, they persecute you in this city, I ran into another; for I say that you will not finish the cities of Israel before the Son of man comes." These words of Jesus instruct his disciples to flee and take refuge elsewhere when they are persecuted, which is exactly what David and his followers did as they flee to Adullam.

Hebrews 13:5-6-"Be your life exempt from greed, contenting you with what you have; for he himself said, I will not let you, nor will I help you. And so with confidence we dared to say, The Lord is my helper , and I will not fear what the man can do to me. " These verses encourage believers not to give in to greed and to trust the Lord as his helper and protector, just as David did during his Saul escape.
