Exodus, 17

7. And he called the name of that place ‘Temptation,’ because of the arguing of the sons of Israel, and because they tempted the Lord, saying: “Is the Lord with us, or not?”

Exodus 17 narrates the history of the battle between the Israelites and the Amalequites, in which Moses intercede to God while Joshua leads the battle. Here are five verses related to the topics covered in this chapter:

Exodus 15:3: "The Lord is a warrior; the Lord is his name." This verse describes God as a warrior, which is relevant to the battle described in Exodus 17.

Deuteronomy 25:17-19: This excerpt recounts the battle between the Israelites and the Amalequites, which occurred in Refidim. Verse 19 is especially relevant, for it declares that God commanded the Israelites to completely destroy the Amalequites.
