Baruch, 3

4. O Lord Almighty, God of Israel, hear now the prayer of the dead of Israel and of the sons of those who sinned before thee, who did not heed the voice of the Lord their God, so that calamities have clung to us.

Baruc 3 is a chapter of the Old Testament that presents a sorry prayer, in which the Jewish people recognize that they have disobeyed God and now suffer the consequences. Psalm 79:8: "You do not remember against us from the iniquities of our ancestors; come quickly to our compassion, for we are very slaughtered." This verse recognizes that the people of God suffers the consequences of the sins of their ancestors and ask for God's compassion.
