Deuteronomy, 5

16. Honour thy father and mother, as the Lord thy God hath commanded thee, that thou mayst live a long time, and it may be well with thee in the land, which the Lord thy God will give thee.

Deuteronomy 5 recounts the delivery of the Ten Commandments by God to Moses on Mount Sinai and highlights the importance of obedience to these commandments. The chosen verses are:

Deuteronomy 5:22: "These words the Lord spoke to all your congregation on the hill, the middle of the fire, the cloud, and the darkness, with a large voice; and added nothing."
