Mark, 10

32. Now they were on the way ascending to Jerusalem. And Jesus went ahead of them, and they were astonished. And those following him were afraid. And again, taking aside the twelve, he began to tell them what was about to happen to him.

St. Mark 10 deals with various topics, including divorce, the importance of children and salvation. At the beginning of the chapter, Jesus argues with the Pharisees about divorce, teaching that marriage is a sacred union that must be maintained. Then Jesus blesses the children and states that the kingdom of God belongs to those who are like them. Finally, a rich young man approaches Jesus and asks what he should do to inherit eternal life, and Jesus tells him to sell everything he has and follow him.

Proverbs 22:6: "Teaches the child on the path where he should walk, and even when he is elderly he will not deviate from him." This verse highlights the importance of teaching and guiding children, a message emphasized by Jesus in St. Mark 10.

Matthew 19:21: "Jesus answered, If you want to be perfect, go, sell everything you have, and give it to the poor and have a treasure in heaven. Then come and follow me." This verse is similar to Jesus' response to the young rich in St. Mark 10, emphasizing the importance of abandoning everything in favor of following Christ.

Matthew 19:6: "So they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore, what God has united, no one separates him." This verse relates to Jesus' discussion of divorce in St. Mark 10, reinforcing the idea that marriage is a sacred union that must be maintained.

Luke 18:17: "Truth I say unto you, Whoever does not receive the Kingdom of God as a child shall not enter into him." This statement of Jesus reinforces the importance of children, which He blessed in St. Mark 10 and stated that they represent those who are worthy of the Kingdom of God.

Mark 10:27: "Jesus answered, 'To men is impossible, but not to God. To God everything is possible.'"
