2 Thessalonians, 2

1. But we ask you, brothers, concerning the advent of our Lord Jesus Christ and of our gathering to him,

1. A što se tièe Dolaska Gospodina našega Isusa Krista i našeg okupljanja oko njega, molimo vas, braæo:

2. that you not be readily disturbed or terrified in your minds, by any spirit, or word, or epistle, supposedly sent from us, claiming that the day of the Lord is close by.

2. ne dajte se brzo pokolebati u svom shvaæanju niti uznemiriti ni nekim duhom, ni nekom rijeèju, ni nekim tobože našim pismom, kao da æe sad-na Dan Gospodnji.

3. Let no one deceive you in any way. For this cannot be, unless the apostasy will have arrived first, and the man of sin will have been revealed, the son of perdition,

3. Neka vas nitko ne zavede ni na koji naèin. Jer ako prije ne doðe onaj otpad i ne otkrije se Èovjek bezakonja, Sin propasti,

4. who is an adversary to, and who is lifted up above, all that is called God or that is worshipped, so much so that he sits in the temple of God, presenting himself as if he were God.

4. Protivnik, onaj koji uzdiže sebe protiv svega što se zove Bog ili svetinja, dotle da i u Božji hram zasjedne gradeæi se Bogom...

5. Do you not recall that, when I was still with you, I told you these things?

5. Ne sjeæate li se, to sam vam govorio dok sam još bio meðu vama?

6. And now you know what it is that holds him back, so that he may be revealed in his own time.

6. I sada znate što ga zadržava da bi se pojavio tek u svoje vrijeme.

7. For the mystery of iniquity is already at work. And only one now holds back, and will continue to hold back, until he is taken from our midst.

7. Doista, otajstvo bezakonja veæ je na djelu, samo ima tko da ga sada zadržava dok ne bude uklonjen.

8. And then that iniquitous one shall be revealed, the one whom the Lord Jesus shall bring to ruin with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy at the brightness of his return:

8. Tada æe se otkriti Bezakonik. Njega æe Gospodin Isus pogubiti dahom usta i uništiti pojavkom Dolaska svoga -

9. him whose advent is accompanied by the works of Satan, with every kind of power and signs and false miracles,

9. njega koji djelovanjem Sotoninim dolazi sa svom silom, lažnim znamenjima i èudesima

10. and with every seduction of iniquity, toward those who are perishing because they have not accepted the love of truth, so that they may be saved. For this reason, God will send to them works of deception, so that they may believe in lies,

10. i sa svim nepravednim zavaravanjem onih koji propadaju poradi toga što ne prihvatiše ljubavi prema istini da bi se spasili.

11. in order that all those who have not believed in the truth, but who have consented to iniquity, may be judged.

11. I zato im Bog šalje djelovanje zavodnièko da povjeruju laži

12. Yet we must always give thanks to God for you, brothers, beloved of God, because God has chosen you as first-fruits for salvation, by the sanctification of the Spirit and by faith in the truth.

12. te budu osuðeni svi koji nisu povjerovali istini, nego su se odluèili za nepravednost.

13. He has also called you into truth through our Gospel, unto the acquisition of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.

13. Mi pak moramo uvijek zahvaljivati Bogu za vas, braæo od Gospodina ljubljena, što vas je od poèetka odabrao za spasenje, posveæenjem u Duhu i vjerom u istinu.

14. And so, brothers, stand firm, and hold to the traditions that you have learned, whether by word or by our epistle.

14. Da, na to vas pozva po našem evanðelju - na posjedovanje slave Gospodina našega Isusa Krista.

15. So may our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God our Father, who has loved us and who has given us an everlasting consolation and good hope in grace,

15. Stoga braæo, èvrsto stojte i držite se predaja u kojima ste pouèeni bilo našom rijeèju, bilo pismom.

16. exhort your hearts and confirm you in every good word and deed.

16. A sam Gospodin naš Isus Krist i Bog, Otac naš, koji nas uzljubi i koji nam po milosti dade trajno ohrabrenje i dobru nadu,

17.

17. neka ohrabri vaša srca i neka ih uèvrsti u svakom dobru djelu i rijeèi!
