Mark, 15

46. Having bought a linen cloth, he took him down, wrapped him in the linen cloth and laid him in a tomb that had been hewn out of the rock. Then he rolled a stone against the entrance to the tomb.

St. Mark 15 describes the arrest, judgment and crucifixion of Jesus. The chapter is rich in detail and emotion, and reveals the injustice that Jesus suffered in the hands of the religious and political leaders of his time. Isaiah 53:5: "But he was wounded by our transgressions, and ground for our iniquities; the punishment that brings us peace was upon him, and by his footsteps we were healed." Philippians 2:8: "And, found in the form of a man, he humbled himself, being obedient to death, and death of the cross." This verse talks about the humility of Jesus, who became man and submitted to death on the cross to save humanity.

Hebrews 12:2: "Looking at Jesus, author and consummator of faith, who for the sake of him endured the cross, despising the affront, and settled on the right hand of the throne of God." This verse encourages us to follow the example of Jesus, who endured the cross and overcame temptation so that we may have eternal life with Him in heaven.
