Leviticus, 2

1. "If someone in presenting a peace offering makes his offering from the herd, he may offer before the LORD either a male or a female animal, but it must be without blemish.

1. ' "If anyone offers Yahweh a cereal offering, his offering must consist of wheaten flour on which he must pour wine and put incense.

2. He shall lay his hand on the head of his offering, and then slaughter it at the entrance of the meeting tent; but Aaron's sons, the priests, shall splash its blood on the sides of the altar.

2. He will bring it to the priests descended from Aaron; he will take a handful of the wheaten flour, some of the oil and all the incense, and this the priest will burn on the altar as a memorial, as food burnt as a smell pleasing to Yahweh.

3. From the peace offering he shall offer as an oblation to the LORD the fatty membrane over the inner organs, and all the fat that adheres to them,

3. The remainder of the cereal offering will revert to Aaron and his sons, an especially holy portion of the food burnt for Yahweh.

4. as well as the two kidneys, with the fat on them near the loins, and the lobe of the liver, which he shall sever above the kidneys.

4. "When you offer a cereal offering of dough baked in the oven, the wheaten flour must be prepared either in the form of unleavened cakes mixed with oil, or in the form of unleavened wafers spread with oil.

5. All this Aaron's sons shall then burn on the altar with the holocaust, on the wood over the fire, as a sweet-smelling oblation to the LORD.

5. "If your offering is a cereal offering cooked on the griddle, the wheaten flour mixed with oil must contain no leaven.

6. "If the peace offering he presents to the LORD is from the flock, he may offer either a male or a female animal, but it must be without blemish.

7. If he presents a lamb as his offering, he shall bring it before the LORD,

9. As an oblation to the LORD he shall present the fat of the peace offering: the whole fatty tail, which he must sever close to the spine, the fatty membrane over the inner organs, and all the fat that adheres to them,

9. And from the cereal offering the priest will take the memorial and burn it on the altar, food burnt as a smell pleasing to Yahweh.

10. as well as the two kidneys, with the fat on them near the loins, and the lobe of the liver, which he must sever above the kidneys.

10. The remainder of the cereal offering will revert to Aaron and his descendants: it is especially holy since it is taken from the food burnt for Yahweh.

11. All this the priest shall burn on the altar as the food of the LORD'S oblation.

11. "None of the cereal offerings which you offer to Yahweh must be prepared with leaven, for you must never include leaven or honey in food burnt for Yahweh.

12. "If he presents a goat, he shall bring it before the LORD,

12. You may offer them to Yahweh as an offering of first-fruits, but they will not make a pleasing smell if they are burnt on the altar.

13. and after laying his hand on its head, he shall slaughter it before the meeting tent; but Aaron's sons shall splash its blood on the sides of the altar.

13. You will put salt in every cereal offering that you offer, and you will not fail to put the salt of the covenant of your God on your cereal offering; to every offering you will add an offering of salt to your God.

14. From it he shall offer as an oblation to the LORD the fatty membrane over the inner organs, and all the fat that adheres to them,

14. If you offer Yahweh a cereal offering of first-fruits, you will offer it in the form of roasted ears of wheat or of bread made from ground wheat.

15. as well as the two kidneys, with the fat on them near the loins, and the lobe of the liver, which he must sever above the kidneys.

15. You will add oil to it and put incense on it; it is a cereal offering;

16. All this the priest shall burn on the altar as the food of the sweet-smelling oblation. All the fat belongs to the LORD.

16. and from it the priest will burn the memorial with some bread and oil (and all the incense) as food burnt for Yahweh." '

17. This shall be a perpetual ordinance for your descendants wherever they may dwell. You shall not partake of any fat or any blood."

2:1-3 - L'offrande de céréales était un sacrifice de remerciement, représentant la subsistance que Dieu fournit. En offrant les fruits de la terre, les Israélites reconnaissaient Dieu comme la source de toute subsistance (voir aussi Deutéronome 26:1-2 et Matthieu 6:11).

2:4-7 - Les offrandes de céréales pouvaient être présentées sous diverses formes : cuites au four, frites ou bouillies. Cela reflète la flexibilité du culte, valorisant le cœur qui accompagne le sacrifice plutôt que le rituel (voir aussi Colossiens 3:17 et Hébreux 13:15).
