Mark, 11

1. When they were approaching Jerusalem, at Bethphage and Bethany, close by the Mount of Olives, he sent two of his disciples

2. and said to them, 'Go to the village facing you, and as you enter it you will at once find a tethered colt that no one has yet ridden. Untie it and bring it here.

2. Er sagte zu ihnen: Geht in das Dorf, das vor euch liegt; gleich wenn ihr hineinkommt, werdet ihr einen jungen Esel angebunden finden, auf dem noch nie ein Mensch gesessen hat. Bindet ihn los, und bringt ihn her!

3. If anyone says to you, "What are you doing?" say, "The Master needs it and will send it back here at once." '

3. Und wenn jemand zu euch sagt: Was tut ihr da?, dann antwortet: Der Herr braucht ihn; er lässt ihn bald wieder zurückbringen.

4. They went off and found a colt tethered near a door in the open street. As they untied it,

4. Da machten sie sich auf den Weg und fanden außen an einer Tür an der Straße einen jungen Esel angebunden und sie banden ihn los.

5. some men standing there said, 'What are you doing, untying that colt?'

5. Einige, die dabeistanden, sagten zu ihnen: Wie kommt ihr dazu, den Esel loszubinden?

6. They gave the answer Jesus had told them, and the men let them go.

6. Sie gaben ihnen zur Antwort, was Jesus gesagt hatte, und man ließ sie gewähren.

7. Then they took the colt to Jesus and threw their cloaks on its back, and he mounted it.

7. Sie brachten den jungen Esel zu Jesus, legten ihre Kleider auf das Tier und er setzte sich darauf.

8. Many people spread their cloaks on the road, and others greenery which they had cut in the fields.

8. Und viele breiteten ihre Kleider auf der Straße aus; andere rissen auf den Feldern Zweige (von den Büschen) ab und streuten sie auf den Weg.

9. And those who went in front and those who followed were all shouting, 'Hosanna! Blessed is he who is coming in the name of the Lord!

9. Die Leute, die vor ihm hergingen und die ihm folgten, riefen: Hosanna! / Gesegnet sei er, der kommt im Namen des Herrn!

10. Blessed is the coming kingdom of David our father! Hosanna in the highest heavens!'

10. Gesegnet sei das Reich unseres Vaters David, / das nun kommt. / Hosanna in der Höhe!

11. He entered Jerusalem and went into the Temple; and when he had surveyed it all, as it was late by now, he went out to Bethany with the Twelve.

11. Und er zog nach Jerusalem hinein, in den Tempel; nachdem er sich alles angesehen hatte, ging er spät am Abend mit den Zwölf nach Betanien hinaus.

12. Next day as they were leaving Bethany, he felt hungry.

12. Als sie am nächsten Tag Betanien verließen, hatte er Hunger.

13. Seeing a fig tree in leaf some distance away, he went to see if he could find any fruit on it, but when he came up to it he found nothing but leaves; for it was not the season for figs.

13. Da sah er von weitem einen Feigenbaum mit Blättern und ging hin, um nach Früchten zu suchen. Aber er fand an dem Baum nichts als Blätter; denn es war nicht die Zeit der Feigenernte.

14. And he addressed the fig tree, 'May no one ever eat fruit from you again.' And his disciples heard him say this.

14. Da sagte er zu ihm: In Ewigkeit soll niemand mehr eine Frucht von dir essen. Und seine Jünger hörten es.

15. So they reached Jerusalem and he went into the Temple and began driving out the men selling and buying there; he upset the tables of the money changers and the seats of the dove sellers.

15. Dann kamen sie nach Jerusalem. Jesus ging in den Tempel und begann, die Händler und Käufer aus dem Tempel hinauszutreiben; er stieß die Tische der Geldwechsler und die Stände der Taubenhändler um

16. Nor would he allow anyone to carry anything through the Temple.

16. und ließ nicht zu, dass jemand irgendetwas durch den Tempelbezirk trug.

17. And he taught them and said, 'Does not scripture say: My house will be called a house of prayer for all peoples? But you have turned it into a bandits' den.'

17. Er belehrte sie und sagte: Heißt es nicht in der Schrift: Mein Haus soll ein Haus des Gebetes für alle Völker sein? Ihr aber habt daraus eine Räuberhöhle gemacht.

18. This came to the ears of the chief priests and the scribes, and they tried to find some way of doing away with him; they were afraid of him because the people were carried away by his teaching.

18. Die Hohenpriester und die Schriftgelehrten hörten davon und suchten nach einer Möglichkeit, ihn umzubringen. Denn sie fürchteten ihn, weil alle Leute von seiner Lehre sehr beeindruckt waren.

19. And when evening came he went out of the city.

19. Als es Abend wurde, verließ Jesus mit seinen Jüngern die Stadt.

20. Next morning, as they passed by, they saw the fig tree withered to the roots.

20. Als sie am nächsten Morgen an dem Feigenbaum vorbeikamen, sahen sie, dass er bis zu den Wurzeln verdorrt war.

21. Peter remembered. 'Look, Rabbi,' he said to Jesus, 'the fig tree that you cursed has withered away.'

21. Da erinnerte sich Petrus und sagte zu Jesus: Rabbi, sieh doch, der Feigenbaum, den du verflucht hast, ist verdorrt.

22. Jesus answered, 'Have faith in God.

22. Jesus sagte zu ihnen: Ihr müsst Glauben an Gott haben.

23. In truth I tell you, if anyone says to this mountain, "Be pulled up and thrown into the sea," with no doubt in his heart, but believing that what he says will happen, it will be done for him.

23. Amen, das sage ich euch: Wenn jemand zu diesem Berg sagt: Heb dich empor und stürz dich ins Meer!, und wenn er in seinem Herzen nicht zweifelt, sondern glaubt, dass geschieht, was er sagt, dann wird es geschehen.

24. I tell you, therefore, everything you ask and pray for, believe that you have it already, and it will be yours.

24. Darum sage ich euch: Alles, worum ihr betet und bittet - glaubt nur, dass ihr es schon erhalten habt, dann wird es euch zuteil.

25. And when you stand in prayer, forgive whatever you have against anybody, soyour Father in heaven may forgive your failings too.'

25. Und wenn ihr beten wollt und ihr habt einem anderen etwas vorzuwerfen, dann vergebt ihm, damit auch euer Vater im Himmel euch eure Verfehlungen vergibt.

27. They came to Jerusalem again, and as Jesus was walking in the Temple, the chief priests and the scribes and the elders came to him,

27. Sie kamen wieder nach Jerusalem. Als er im Tempel umherging, kamen die Hohenpriester, die Schriftgelehrten und die Ältesten zu ihm

28. and they said to him, 'What authority have you for acting like this? Or who gave you authority to act like this?'

28. und fragten ihn: Mit welchem Recht tust du das alles? Wer hat dir die Vollmacht gegeben, das zu tun?

29. Jesus said to them, 'And I will ask you a question, just one; answer me and I will tell you my authority for acting like this.

29. Jesus sagte zu ihnen: Zuerst will ich euch eine Frage vorlegen. Antwortet mir, dann werde ich euch sagen, mit welchem Recht ich das tue.

30. John's baptism, what was its origin, heavenly or human? Answer me that.'

30. Stammte die Taufe des Johannes vom Himmel oder von den Menschen? Antwortet mir!

31. And they argued this way among themselves, 'If we say heavenly, he will say, "Then why did you refuse to believe him?"

31. Da überlegten sie und sagten zueinander: Wenn wir antworten: Vom Himmel!, so wird er sagen: Warum habt ihr ihm dann nicht geglaubt?

32. But dare we say human?' -- they had the people to fear, for everyone held that John had been a real prophet.

32. Sollen wir also antworten: Von den Menschen? Sie fürchteten sich aber vor den Leuten; denn alle glaubten, dass Johannes wirklich ein Prophet war.

33. So their reply to Jesus was, 'We do not know.' And Jesus said to them, 'Nor will I tell you my authority for acting like this.'

33. Darum antworteten sie Jesus: Wir wissen es nicht. Jesus erwiderte: Dann sage auch ich euch nicht, mit welchem Recht ich das alles tue.
