1 Maccabees, 9

54. Now in the year one hundred and fifty-three, the second month, Alcimus commanded the walls of the inner court of the sanctuary to be thrown down, and the works of the prophets to be destroyed: and he began to be destroyed: and he began to destroy.

1 Maccabees 9 describes the war between the armies of Judas Macabeu and Baquids, General of the Seleucid King. The chapter begins with a description of the Backet Strategy to attack Judas and his men, followed by a battle that occurs on a mountainous slope. Psalm 44:6: "I don't trust my bow, nor can my sword save me." This verse deals with the theme of confidence in weapons and physical strength. In 1 Maccabees 9, Judas Macabeu and his men are overcome by the soldiers of baquids, but trust God to help them overcome the battle.

" This verse deals with the theme of Divine Protection, which is an important element in 1 Maccabees 9. Both sides trust God to protect them in battle.
