Jeremiah, 13

22. But if you say in your heart, ‘Why have these things happened to me?’ it is because of the greatness of your iniquity that your shame has been uncovered and the soles of your feet have been defiled.

Romans 6:23: "For the salary of sin is death, but God's free gift is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." This verse speaks of the consequences of sin and the offer of eternal life that God gives through Jesus Christ.
