Chapter 35 of Ezekiel deals with the condemnation of Edom, an ancient enemy of the people of Israel. The prophet announces the destruction of Edom and the punishment of his leaders, who rejoiced with the fall of Jerusalem. Below are five verses related to the topics covered in Ezekiel 35:
Obadiah 1:10-11: "Because of the violence against your brother Jacob, you will cover you shame, and you will be exterminated forever. On the day you posted from afar, the day you were captive your army captive , when strangers entered their doors, and throwing sorts over Jerusalem, also you were one of them. " This excerpt from Obadiah's book prophesies Edom's punishment for his violence against the people of Israel, including joy with the fall of Jerusalem.
Isaiah 34:5-6: "For it will be a killing of Jehovah in Edom, and a great kill in their land. And the unicorns will come down with them, and the oxen with the bulls; and their land shall be drunk with blood. , and your dust will be thickened with fat. " This verse of the book of Isaiah announces the destruction of Edom and the abundance of blood shed in his land.
Jeremiah 49:7-8: "As for Edom, thus says Jehovah of the armies: Is there no more wisdom in Temá? " In this passage of Jeremiah, God threatens to punish Edom for his arrogance and joy with the fall of Jerusalem.
Psalm 137:7: "Remember, Jehovah of the sons of Edom on Jerusalem, who said, I discovered, I discovered even their foundations." This psalm records the words of the lament of the people of Israel during their exile in Babylon, remembering Edom's cruelty in his hour of distress.
Amos 1:11-12: "Thus Jehovah says, For three transgressions of Edom, and for four, I will not revoke the punishment, because he pursued his brother to the sword, and suppressed all compassion, and his wrath snatched him continuously, and He perpetually kept his fury. So I will send a fire on Temã, which will consume the Bozra palaces. " In this passage from the book of Amos, God condemns Edom's violence against the people of Israel and announces his punishment.
