Chapter 10 of 2 Chronicles narrates the story of how King Roban, Son of Solomon, became the king of Judah after his father's death. This verse talks about how the division of the kingdom of Israel was prophesied by God. This shows that the division was not only a consequence of Rehoboam's actions, but also a part of the divine plan.

If Roban had loved his people and considered his needs, he could have avoided the division of the kingdom of Israel.
