Amos, 5

5. but not in Bethel nor come to Gilgal, nor pass through to Beersheba. For Gilgal shall be led into exile and Bethel brought to nothing."

Chapter 5 of Amos talks about the condemnation of the people of Israel for their hypocrisy and injustice. The prophet calls the people to repentance and the pursuit of justice. Below are five verses related to the topics covered in Amos 5.

Isaiah 1:17: "Learn to do good; seek justice, end up with oppression. Defend the orphan's right and protect the cause of the widow." This verse talks about the importance of the search for justice and the protection of the most vulnerable, topics covered in Amos 5.

Jeremiah 22:3: "Thus saith the Lord, Practice justice and righteousness; Deliver from the hands of the oppressor who has been stolen. Do not mistreat or make violence to the foreigner, orphan or widow; do not pour out innocent blood in this place." This verse also talks about the search for justice and protection of the most vulnerable.

Proverbs 21:3: "Practicing justice and righteousness is more acceptable to the Lord than offering sacrifices." This verse emphasizes that the search for justice is more important than religious rituals, a theme addressed in Amos 5.

Isaiah 58:6: "This is not the fast I chose: May you release the currents of injustice, undo the strings of the yoke, set the oppressed in freedom and break all yoke?" This verse points out that the true fasting must be accompanied by the practice of justice and liberation of the oppressed.

Psalm 106:3: "Happy are those who act with righteousness at all times." This verse emphasizes the importance of righteousness and justice in all circumstances, the theme addressed in Amos 5.
