1 Samuel, 25

34. Otherwise, as the LORD, the God of Israel, lives, who has restrained me from harming you, if you had not come so promptly to meet me, by dawn Nabal would not have had a single man or boy left alive."

1 Samuel 25 narrates the story of Abigail, wife of Nabal, a rude and foolish man who refuses to help David and his men in a moment of necessity. Romans 12:19: "You shall not avenge yourselves, beloved, but give the wrath of God, for it is written, My is revenge; I will reward, say the Lord." David trusts God to deal with those who offend him, instead of seeking revenge on his own.
