1 Chronicles 13 describes David's failed attempt to bring the ark from the covenant to Jerusalem. Although his intention was good, he did not follow God's instructions to transport the ark correctly and eventually caused the death of Uzza. From this chapter, I chose five verses related to the themes of obedience, reverence, worship, repentance, and holiness, which can be found in other parts of the Bible.
Deuteronomy 28:1: "And if you hear the voice of the Lord your God, being careful to keep all your commandments that I command you today, the Lord your God will exalt you over all the nations of the earth." This verse of Deuteronomy highlights the importance of obedience to God's commandments. David failed to obey God's instructions to transport the ark and, as a result, faced serious consequences.
Psalm 89:7: "God is very terrible in the Assembly of the Saints, and to be revered by all around him." The Ark of the Covenant was a symbol of God's presence, and David understood the importance of reverence it. This verse of Psalm 89 highlights the importance of revering God and His presence.
Psalm 96:9: "Worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness; I trembled before him all the earth." David acknowledged the importance of worshiping God properly. This verse of Psalm 96 highlights the importance of worshiping God in the beauty of holiness.
Proverbs 28:13: "Which covers your transgressions will never prosper, but what confesses them and will reach mercy." When Uzzá touched the ark of the covenant, he was disobeying God. David recognized his mistake and regretted. This verse of proverbs highlights the importance of confessing our sins and repenting before God.
Leviticus 10:3: "And Moses said to Aaron, This is what the Lord said, saying, I will be sanctified in those who come to me and be glorified before all the people." David failed to transport the ark holy and reverently. This verse of Leviticus highlights the importance of holiness and reverence in worship of God.
