Colossians, 3

1. If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God.

1. Jos te siis olette herätetyt Kristuksen kanssa, niin etsikää sitä, mikä on ylhäällä, jossa Kristus on, istuen Jumalan oikealla puolella.

2. Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.

2. Olkoon mielenne siihen, mikä ylhäällä on, älköön siihen, mikä on maan päällä.

3. For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God.

3. Sillä te olette kuolleet, ja teidän elämänne on kätkettynä Kristuksen kanssa Jumalassa;

4. When Christ, [who is] our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory.

4. kun Kristus, meidän elämämme, ilmestyy, silloin tekin hänen kanssaan ilmestytte kirkkaudessa.

5. Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry:

5. Kuolettakaa siis maalliset jäsenenne: haureus, saastaisuus, kiihko, paha himo ja ahneus, joka on epäjumalanpalvelusta,

6. For which things' sake the wrath of God cometh on the children of disobedience:

6. sillä niiden tähden tulee Jumalan viha,

7. In the which ye also walked some time, when ye lived in them.

7. ja niissä tekin ennen vaelsitte, kun niissä elitte.

8. But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth.

8. Mutta nyt pankaa tekin pois ne kaikki: viha, kiivastus, pahuus, herjaus ja häpeällinen puhe suustanne.

9. Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds;

9. Älkää puhuko valhetta toisistanne, te, jotka olette riisuneet pois vanhan ihmisen tekoinensa

10. And have put on the new [man], which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him:

10. ja pukeutuneet uuteen, joka uudistuu tietoon, Luojansa kuvan mukaan.

11. Where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision, Barbarian, Scythian, bond [nor] free: but Christ [is] all, and in all.

11. Ja tässä ei ole kreikkalaista eikä juutalaista, ei ympärileikkausta eikä ympärileikkaamattomuutta, ei barbaaria, ei skyyttalaista, ei orjaa, ei vapaata, vaan kaikki ja kaikissa on Kristus.

12. Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering;

12. Pukeutukaa siis te, jotka olette Jumalan valituita, pyhiä ja rakkaita, sydämelliseen armahtavaisuuteen, ystävällisyyteen, nöyryyteen, sävyisyyteen, pitkämielisyyteen,

13. Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also [do] ye.

13. kärsikää toinen toistanne ja antakaa toisillenne anteeksi, jos kenellä on moitetta toista vastaan. Niinkuin Herrakin on antanut teille anteeksi, niin myös te antakaa.

14. And above all these things [put on] charity, which is the bond of perfectness.

14. Mutta kaiken tämän lisäksi pukeutukaa rakkauteen, mikä on täydellisyyden side.

15. And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful.

15. Ja vallitkoon teidän sydämissänne Kristuksen rauha, johon te olette kutsututkin yhdessä ruumiissa, ja olkaa kiitolliset.

16. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.

16. Runsaasti asukoon teissä Kristuksen sana; opettakaa ja neuvokaa toinen toistanne kaikessa viisaudessa, psalmeilla, kiitosvirsillä ja hengellisillä lauluilla, veisaten kiitollisesti Jumalalle sydämissänne.

17. And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, [do] all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.

17. Ja kaikki, minkä teette sanalla tai työllä, kaikki tehkää Herran Jeesuksen nimessä, kiittäen Isää Jumalaa hänen kauttansa.

18. Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as it is fit in the Lord.

18. Vaimot, olkaa miehillenne alamaiset, niinkuin sopii Herrassa.

19. Husbands, love [your] wives, and be not bitter against them.

19. Miehet, rakastakaa vaimojanne, älkääkä olko heitä kohtaan katkerat.

20. Children, obey [your] parents in all things: for this is well pleasing unto the Lord.

20. Lapset, olkaa vanhemmillenne kuuliaiset kaikessa, sillä se on otollista Herrassa.

21. Fathers, provoke not your children [to anger], lest they be discouraged.

21. Isät, älkää kiihoittako lapsianne, etteivät he kävisi aroiksi.

22. Servants, obey in all things [your] masters according to the flesh; not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but in singleness of heart, fearing God:

22. Palvelijat, olkaa maallisille isännillenne kaikessa kuuliaiset, ei silmänpalvelijoina, ihmisille mieliksi, vaan sydämen yksinkertaisuudessa peljäten Herraa.

23. And whatsoever ye do, do [it] heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men;

23. Kaikki, mitä teette, se tehkää sydämestänne, niinkuin Herralle eikä ihmisille,

24. Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ.

24. tietäen, että te saatte Herralta palkaksi perinnön; te palvelette Herraa Kristusta.

25. But he that doeth wrong shall receive for the wrong which he hath done: and there is no respect of persons.

25. Sillä se, joka tekee väärin, on saava takaisin, mitä on väärin tehnyt; ja henkilöön ei katsota.
