18. And so, because of this, the Jews were seeking to kill him even more so. For not only did he break the Sabbath, but he even said that God was his Father, making himself equal to God.

John 5:46-47: "If you grew up in Moses, they would believe me, for he wrote about me. But if they don't believe in his writings, how will they believe what I say?" Jesus talks about how his message is in accordance with Scripture and that those who do not believe in his words are not really following the teachings of Moses and the prophets.
