Deuteronomy 9:16-17: "And I saw that you had sin against the Lord your God; you had made a calf of casting; you soon turned away from the way that the Lord had commanded you. Then I took the two tablets, throw them from them My hands and shattered them before your eyes. " This verse describes how Moses breaks the tablets with God's commandments when he sees the idolatry of the people of Israel. This shows the severity of the sin of the people and the wrath of God in the face of this infidelity.
Deuteronomy 9:18: "Then I prolonged myself before the Lord, as before, forty days and forty nights; I did not eat bread, nor drink water, because of all your sin that you have committed, doing evil in the sight of the Lord, to provoke it to wrath. Deuteronomy 9:29: "But they are your people and your inheritance, which you have taken with your great strength and your arm extended." This verse highlights the special relationship between God and the people of Israel, remembering how God freed them from Egypt with great power and demonstrating their faithfulness and commitment to them.
