Genesis, 28

6. Now Esau saw that Isaac had blessed Jacob and sent him away to Paddan-aram to take a wife from there, and that as he blessed him he charged him, "You shall not marry one of the Canaanite women,"

Genesis 28 reports the beginning of Jacob's journey, where he runs away from his brother Esau and has a meeting with God in a dream, receiving a promise of blessing. Psalm 139:7-10: "Where will I be absent from your Spirit? Where will I run out of your face? This verse is a reference to Jacob's dream, where he saw a staircase that stretched from heaven to earth and the angels rising and down. He reminds us that Jesus is the ladder that leads us to heaven and that He is the connection between God and humanity.
