Judges 14 tells the story of Samson, one of the judges of Israel, who asks his parents to look for a wife for him among the Philistines. They agree, but Samson falls in love with a woman who doesn't please her parents. During the wedding, Samson proposes a riddle to the party guests, who is only resolved with the help of Samson's wife. He gets furious and kills thirty Philistine men to fulfill the bet.
